The magazine catch on the Gen4 and Gen5 frames is inverted and extends to the rear of the pistol. The reversible magazine grip is more user-friendly for the shooter on the range and allows him to change the grip to the left or right side of the pistol.
Gen4 and Gen5 have a rough textured surface (Gen4 RTF) designed to increase grip without being too aggressive. It's on the frame as well as the interchangeable back straps.
